Over the past few months, we have seen some big changes to the whole area, Our construction updates have mainly focused on the water ride but, there’s so much more happening with a new home for the Sea lions/fur seals, a new home for the mangabeys, redesigned area for the lions and the Daktari Express will have its track moved further to the lake. This huge project is coming together nicely, we can not wait to explore this redeveloped area of the Lost Kingdom.
Firstly we are at the ride’s entrance, the former kiosk has been converted into an enclosed building with doors at the front and rear, looking inside at the layout we feel it might be based on the same idea as the SIKs entrance/gift shop. The outside of the building has been clad with a mixture of wood effect panels, colour this be a new colour theme for the ride? The rides station roof has stayed unchanged and we are not sure if this will be keeping its current design.

Viewpoints from the Tiger Bridge and the Hippo deck show some great views of the work around and inside the Lion enclosure. Their outside section is undergoing a redesign with new viewing points, and what looks to be an “invisible” barrier between the ride and the lions is very similar to the Cheetah enclosure with a glass viewpoint from above. This week foundations have been going in for retaining walls along this stretch in the next few weeks we might be able to confirm the exact plans as this progresses.

Moving on to the lift hill, the structure has been complete for some time now with the mechanical and electrical systems getting installed but we still have the gap at the top! Now last week Digital Dan reported on what could be happening with this “gap” But, here at Flamingopics we report & share things we see happening on site or if it’s been confirmed, so we are not going to confirm or deny these findings but time will tell!
The trough running from the “gap” to the drop is all in place with the top section of the drop hanging ready for the ramp to be added. This steel structure looks impressive and has taken a lot of work and planning to get to where it is but the end is in sight.

The overall site still has lots of supports, pipes and other materials that are to be installed and it will be an interesting 6 weeks as we will be here watching through the summer!
The Daktari express (train) has been closed this year and this is due to the track running through the construction site, they have started to reinstall the track with it slightly moving over along with the path closer to the lake to accommodate the new splash pool.
Lastly, we are taking a view from VooDoo, again we can see the ramps and walkways progressing ready for handrails to be installed, we caught a shot of the ramp through the trees and the new Sea lion / Fur seal’s home is almost hidden from public view but looks to be coming along. Flamingo Land are still is putting huge efforts into this to complete it in a good time.
Keep your eyes on our social media for quick updates as they happen during the week!
